First Thing was written back in 1994 as a piano piece after hearing my pastor speak on the tithe and the giving of your first fruits. But it wasn't until almost thirty years later that a new draft of FIRST THING was written. The new words and music connected so well that it literally gave me goose pimples from start to finish. It hit all the right spots for me, and I couldn't wait to release it.
FIRST THING may have taken a while to finish, but it was so worth the wait! Thank You, Lord...

Check out the exalting chorus sung by Ethan Cronin, especially on the outro, as he puts his vocal power on display. My plan was to include a Gospel choir (I even had the dry and wet vocal stems recorded and ready) but Ethan did such an outstanding job with his stellar vocals that I decided to hold back on adding the choir due to the possibility of oversaturating his fine vocal performance. All for the better because I sure do love the way it turned out! FIRST THING is definitely a favorite of mine and all my close friends...
